Branch, A/B test and delay your funnel

Three logic steps make a funnel react to people. A Condition sends someone one way or another based on what they did, such as buying or clicking an email. A Traffic Split sends a fixed share of visitors down each path for A/B tests. A Delay / Wait pauses automations for a time or until a date.

Conditions

A Condition has two outputs: one for "yes" and one for "no". Connect each to the step that group should reach next, or leave one unconnected to end the journey for that group. You can choose from these conditions:

ConditionWorks after
Purchased; Order total; Bought the order bumpA checkout, sales or tripwire page
Accepted the offerAn upsell or downsell
Submitted the form; Answer to a questionAn opt-in or application page
Quiz score; Quiz result; Finished the quizA quiz
Bought a product or offerAnywhere in the funnel
Clicked a page link or button; Clicked an email linkAnywhere in the funnel
Reached a funnel stepAnywhere in the funnel

Conditions can lead straight into another condition, so you can check several things in a row.

Tip: "did not click" is only true after some time has passed. Put a Delay / Wait before a condition like "Clicked an email link" so people have a fair chance to click before the "no" branch runs.

A/B tests with Traffic Split

  1. Add a Traffic Split before the pages you want to compare.
  2. Set the percentage for each path, such as 50 and 50.
  3. Connect each output to a different version of the page.
  4. Publish, then compare the conversion rate of each version in your funnel analytics.

A returning visitor stays on the same path, so nobody sees two versions of your offer.

Delays and waits

A Delay / Wait pauses the automations after it. Choose Wait for duration, such as 1 day or 2 hours, or Wait until specific date & time in a time zone you pick, which suits webinar reminders and launch days.

Each person waits from the moment they reached the step: someone who joins at 10:00 with a 2-hour wait gets the next email at 12:00, and someone who joins at 12:00 gets it at 14:00.

Good to know: waits pause emails and other background steps. A visitor moving through your pages is never held up by a wait.

Example: follow up with people who did not buy

  1. After your sales page, add a Delay / Wait of 1 day.
  2. After the wait, add a Condition set to Purchased.
  3. Leave the "yes" output unconnected, so buyers hear nothing more.
  4. Connect the "no" output to an Email Automation with a reminder and a link back to the sales page.

Frequently asked questions

Do changes to a published funnel affect people already waiting?

People already waiting keep their timers. When their wait ends they continue along the latest published version of the funnel.

What happens if I delete a step someone is waiting on?

Their journey ends gracefully instead of breaking, and nobody receives an email from a step that no longer exists.
